Just looking at the wonderful detail in Egyptian art and their frescoes. The similarities between the Egyptian and the frescoes of the middle ages are astonishing. The Egyptian images do appear very stylized compared to the ones done during the middle age that comes across as bad drawings. The small images or their form of writing I guess, does look very similar to symbols or keys found on maps. Interesting the whole reason behind the flourish of Christian iconography was to do with the majority of people at the time being illiterate, so the established churches went to great lenghts to depict the bible visually so that everyone can view and understand or the Bible.
